Protesters Oppose Closing Of Fremont High Students at Fremont High School are pledging to fight plans by the LA Unified School District to close down one South LA campus. Violence prevention in LA schools Chicago's mayor Richard Daley is proposing several proposals to cut down on teenage violence. He's calling for more after-school programs and putting more police officers around schools. This comes in the wake of the beating of a sixteen year old student in Chicago. The LAUSD layoff saga goes on The United Teachers Los Angeles has waged an aggressive campaign to make sure LAUSD teachers keep their jobs. They held a news conference before the Board of Education's meeting today to say that they are still fighting for their jobs.
