Adrianna Bachan memorial More than a week after the hit-and-run that killed freshman Adrianna Bachan and severely injured fellow freshman Marcus Garfinkle, USC students are still in shock. The alleged driver of the car has been arrested and charged, and LAPD is still looking for the passenger. A memorial for Adrianna Bachan will be held today, April 7, 2009. Adopt an Immigrant Santiago Mendez is facing deportation after his arrest two years ago. He says that his ordeal has taken a toll on his family, and fears being separated from them. Mendez appeared at a news conference with members of the Adopt an Immigrant program which is calling for President Obama to address immigration reform.

Puppy mill crackdown A new motion approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will regulate local dog breeders and kennels. After a recent increase in cases of over-breeding puppies, Supervisor Mike Antonovich introduced a plan that would unify the county's efforts to identify and shut down puppy mills.
