Gilbert Lindsay Recreation Center Opens in L.A. Kids and community members met in South Los Angeles today to celebrate the opening of the Gilbert Lindsay Recreation Center. The center is named after the late councilman Gilbert Lindsay, who represented the area for 30 years. Steps to reopen King/Harbor Hospital Two days in office and Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas is wasting no time. Today the L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved his plan to come up with cost estimates and a timeline for reopening the Martin Luther King-Harbor hospital, which requires massive repairs. Arlington West remembers American soldiers For almost five years, Veterans for Peace create a cemetery on the sands at Santa Monica Beach every Sunday to remember the American soldiers who have died in Iraq.
