Community gathers to honor King’s legacy with moratorium In remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's assassination 40 years ago, civil rights leaders and South LA residents came together to spread the word about a 40-hour moratorium on killing. Exhibit displays real human body parts A unique exhibit at the California Science Center offers visitors insight into the human body, by displaying preserved specimens. Created by Gunther von Hagens, the exhibit displays slices of several body parts, including hands, joints, and even a replaced hip. Called Body Worlds 3 & The Story of the Heart, the exhibit is the first of its kind offering visitors a chance to learn about anatomy, physiology and health by viewing real human bodies.

County-wide coalition rallies against education funding cuts Parents and educators gathered at a press conference to express concern over the Governor's proposed $4.8 billion budget cuts to education funding. LAUSD Superintendent David L. Brewer III was on hand to discuss the impact the cuts will have on local schools. Los Angeles County schools will have to face more than $1.3 billion in projected cuts.
