Cal State renewable energy

News:

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced today a partnership with SunEdison that will bring eight megawatts of solar power to 15 Cal State campuses across the state.  Such a system is already in place at Cal State Dominquez Hills, where the Governor spoke in front of canopied solar panels that cover a parking lot on the campus.  By the end of 2008 or early 2009, these panels will be up and running. Eight megawatts is enough energy to meet 25 percent of Dominguez Hills energy costs, and Arnold reminded the crowd that every bit of energy saved here is energy that won’t need to be generated in a power station.  He hopes that if this partnership is successful that other state owned buildings can get the same treatment.  He also announced the creation of the web site: http://www.renewableenergy.dgs.ca.gov, which tracks energy use in state buildings.  Arnold hopes this will bring California closer to being the greenest place on earth.
