Bus Riders Oppose MTA Hikes and Cuts As Los Angeles' Metropolitan Transit Authority faces a large budget deficit, it is planning to cut some of its service and increase bus fares. These actions, however, have drawn the ire of the Bus Riders' Union. Members say the hikes and cuts will make riding the bus extremely costly, and even prevent them from using the service. Statue of public activist unveiled on Central Avenuu Today an intersection in South L.A. was renamed Ezekiel Mobley Jr Square in honor of a local public activist who died in 2006. Councilwoman Jan Perry said the memorial was a tribute to his dedication to connecting African American and Central and South American communities.
