We went live from the Turkish consulate in Los Angeles where the Armenia Youth Federation is having their annual protest against the Turkish government's denial of the genocide. Also, babies born in the United States are twice as likely to die in their first years. We look at the Crenshaw neighborhood where community members are reaching out to improve infant mortality rates. And, we spoke with USC Social Work Professor Ralph Fertig about the status of affordable housing in Los Angeles.

ARN Live Show - April 17, 2008 Southern California developer Ed Roski, Jr. unveiled plans today to construct a state-of-the-art stadium to become the new home of a Los Angeles NFL team. The stadium will be built on a 600-acres of land in the city of Industry at the junction of the 60 and 57 freeways. Also, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated his fist public mass in the United States today. We went out to hear what South Los Angeles believers think about his visit and the state of faith in the country. And we talked to Donald Miller, executive director of the USC Center of Religion and Culture about the state impact of immigrant religious communities in the Southland.

ARN Live Show - April 10, 2008 Recent immigration raids on local businesses are drawing protests from activists and the Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He wants the federal government to focus on employers who exploit undocumented workers, not the ones who treat and pay them well. Also, hear what Pulitzer Prize Winners Anne Hull and Dana Priest have to say about investigating and exposing mistreatments on wounded veterans at Walter Reed Hospital. They are investigative reporters with the Washington Post. Also, later this month the mayor will submit his budget to the city council. One item that will be in the budget will be money for more officers. Hear a coalition of community groups and unions calling on the mayor to take care of people who need help.
